Housing

We have negociated prices for several hotels (see specific page). "Apparthotel" means rooms with a kitchen. Some have receptions with restricted ours and a system to pick up keys outside them that may require a phone call.

You can check the tourism office for a full list of hotels as well as your favorite booking site. The conference is directly accessible with TRAM B from downtown and with bus 10 from the railway station.

There is a hotel zone with cheaper options (Formule 1, Première classe...) in Villenave d'Ornon that is accessible with bus 20. Note however that this zone is very near to the highway ring which may generate noise even at night and is not easily accessible by public transport at night nor from the airport.

Transport

There are direct trains from Bordeaux to Paris and Toulouse which take around 2 hours. Booking can be made here. There are also buses between Bordeaux and Toulouse (and other cities).

The Bordeaux airport has more than 100 direct destinations mainly in Europe and immediate suroundings. There are direct flights to the main europeans hubs(Paris, Amsterdam, Francfort, Madrid, Istamboule...). Note that low-cost flights are not always included in flight comparation sites. If you are flying in Europe, it may be worth to check the airport site to see if there is a company offering direct flights.

Public transport is operated by TBC. A ticket is valid for 1 hour with unlimited changes. Bus 1 goes from the airport to the railway station through the city center (change to tram B in Victoire) in a bit more than an hour. There is also a direct bus that is faster, specially outside peak time.

Travelling by car in Bordeaux may be difficult due to frequent traffic jams. Parking is very expensive (and can easily exceed 25 euros by day). Parking on campus is free but at owner's risc. The campus is closed at night.

Security

Overall Bordeaux is a very safe city and you should not experience any difficulty with standard caution.

Note that a security guard will be present during the conference and will require you to open your bags for visual checking (this is now required by law for public events in France). We appologize for the inconvenience
